Dr. Foley spoke to Sophia University in May 2024 about Japan’s special role in Saudi modernity and reform. The talk was jointly sponsored by Waseda University and Sophia University. Akita University’s Dr. Manami Goto provided expert feedback and commentary on the talk. A wide group of faculty, students, and others attended the talk online and in person, asking a variety of questions during the two-hour presentation and Q and A.
